Dr. John Juneman's
Dr. John Juneman is the Guidance & Leadership Pastor at CLM and also is the Founder of Life Message International Ministries.
I am a full-time evangelist. This means that instead of being a pastor of a local congregation, my life is spent going to preach, teach, and equip in various places around North America. Yet, through the previous experience of being a pastor for eight years, Jesus changed my life dramatically. I cherished those years and had a deep love for our people. When people ask me if I miss being a pastor, I tell them, "Yes!" God has placed within me the heart of a pastor, and this continues to dramatically re-shape how I view and approach my calling as an evangelist. I am, of course, called to preach and teach, and there is a great joy in that for me. My family will testify that there is often an extra spring in my step when I get to preach! Yet, I am continuing to find something equally as important for me in the continued journey of being and making disciples: ongoing relationship. The more I study the Word, the more I continue to find a clear formula that leaps off of the pages: Discipleship=message + life. I had never until recent years noticed how deep this is in Paul's letters, for example, as he has such a deep love for the people and intimate relationships with them while preaching Jesus. "So affectionately longing for you, we were well pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God, but also our own lives because you had become dear to us (1 Thessalonians 2:8)."
Simply put, Jesus continues to grow in me a passion for ongoing relationships with people, and sharing Him through my life, as as well as through preaching, teaching, and equipping. The imagery of running the race together is very real for me. I feel deeply and increasingly called to run alongside people, churches, and pastors. I see the church and the pastor through a completely different set of eyes after having been a pastor. I have an interest in doing more than just preaching services, as much as I love that. I desire to be a friend, a supporter, an encourager, a facilitator, and an equipper in any way I can for what God wants to do in the churches and through their pastors. I would like to be someone that the church knows as a friend that will walk with them. I have been blessed beyond measure as God has provided opportunity to experience this with some congregations. I have had the privilege of being with the pastor and people again, to remember their names and their situations in some cases, and to pick up where we left off last time. I get to be a part of their lives, and they are a part of mine. This is my heart. An evangelist with a pastor's heart.
